Don’t let your motivation wane on short days

Sunday, 19 November 2023

Autumn and winter are characterized by the drop in temperatures but also by the change of time. From now on, the days begin to get shorter, it gets dark earlier, and it seems like there’s little to enjoy in the evenings. However, the truth is that our attitude is the key that will determine how we face it.

We can’t do anything to make the evenings longer, but we can make the most of every minute of the day. However, if this change makes you feel lazier, or even sadder, that’s normal. We just have to work to make the adaptation quicker and more beneficial.

How can we stay motivated during winter time?

Below we’ll give you some tips that can help you stay motivated during this time of year.

  • Plan and organize. This is possibly the best tool we can have at this time of year (and at all times). When we organize our daily tasks in an orderly way, the effort is usually minimal. It’s important to have workouts planned, as part of our routine, just like going to work or school.
  • Be aware of what your body needs. We must emphasize the benefits that training has for our body and mind. Every day we should remind ourselves how good exercise feels, especially when it’s something we’re passionate about like athletics, and how much we need it. Is there any better motivation than that?
  • Set realistic goals.
  • Seeing our progress and the acquisition of new skills helps motivate us and makes us want to keep improving. However, it’s essential to set small, realistic goals that won’t lead to frustration.

  • Versatile Training. It’s crucial to have fluid and versatile training sessions that avoid monotony and don’t feel tedious.

At CIAT we can help you integrate training into your routine so that neither time changes nor anything else will stop you.
