Summer is over and it’s time to put on your trainers and get back to training. September is a month of new beginnings, like a new year. It’s not just about getting back into our routines, but also about setting new goals.
It’s possible that during the holidays we may have let go of some healthy habits that kept us in shape, and this is crucial to keep in mind when returning to training. As we’ll see below, the ideal approach is to do so gradually and without overexerting ourselves.
At the Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT), we believe that September is a month of opportunities and that there are many tips to help us get back into our routines. Interested? Keep reading!
You may have lost some skills during this time, but don’t worry, it’s just a lack of practice. It’s important to keep this in mind so you don’t get discouraged and push yourself too hard. Therefore, the ideal approach is to start gradually, with short, low-intensity workouts, and then increase the intensity.
In the first few weeks, warm-up and stretching play a fundamental role in preventing injuries and discomfort. It’s advisable to dedicate a few minutes to each activity, so your body can gradually readjust to the routine you had before the holidays.
Furthermore, support your body with good hydration and a healthy diet; this is undoubtedly the best complement you can have and fundamental for physical performance.
Finally, as we mentioned at the beginning, returning from vacation is an ideal time to set new goals and challenges. You can not only think about how far you want to go this season, but also design a plan to get there. It’s time to establish a new training plan or let ourselves be guided by professionals, as is the case with the athletics schools for both children and adults at the CIAT.
It’s time to get back into the routine with strength and motivation. Happy return!
