Sports Minister Yolanda Moliné meets with representatives from the municipalities through which the race passes and the organizations that will collaborate on the next edition of the event
The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, which will take place from March 27 to 29, will involve more than 700 people in its safety and logistics operations. This was announced by the island’s Councilor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, during a recent meeting with more than 30 representatives from the groups that will be involved in the race to ensure its safety, as well as representatives from the nine municipalities through which the race passes.
The councilor, accompanied by Ideco’s CEO, Manolo Gómez, and the race director, Fernando Ordóñez, thanked the local governments, the Civil Guard, the Civil Guard Traffic Division, CECOES 112, QRV, the Civil Guard’s Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group, the National Police, and local police forces, among other organizations, as well as the Department of Natural Environment of the Tenerife Island Council.
“Without the support and involvement of all these people, it would be impossible to organize a race of the magnitude of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®,” said the island councilor, who noted that “the race is a very complex event that requires the coordinated mobilization of more than 700 people, including organizational, security, and logistics staff, as well as volunteers. This massive operation is strategically distributed along the entire course with the goal of assisting the runners and addressing all the needs that arise from an event of this magnitude.”
Those attending the meeting learned the details of the course for each of the 10 race categories, the new features of the upcoming edition, as well as various technical and organizational aspects necessary for coordinating the race.

This year, the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® will have 3,200 participants from 65 countries, 22% of whom are women. Spanish, French, and Italian runners make up the largest groups, followed by British, German, and Polish runners.
The race will kick off on March 27 with the distribution of race bibs, which, for the first time, will take place at Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz. The event’s accompanying fair, the Ultra-Trail Village Tenerife Bluetrail, will also be held there over three days, featuring companies and brands specializing in running gear, nutrition, health, and other related fields.
The race, now in its 14th year, will feature several new developments in 2025, including a change in the schedule for the 24k race—which will debut a semi-nighttime format—and a modification to the 73k course within Teide National Park, among other changes.
The event features ten race formats and four race categories through which participants can earn the Running Stones required to qualify for the sport’s most prestigious mountain race: the Hokka UTMB® Mont-Blanc, held in late August in Chamonix (France). Specifically, these are the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k / 6,250m+ (100M category – 4 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 73k / 3,150m+ (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k / 2,600m+ (50K category – 2 Running Stones); and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k / 1,300m+ (20K category – 1 Running Stone).
In addition to these races, there are other events such as the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k Relay, a 47-kilometer relay race, and the 3.5-kilometer Vertical Night Challenge. Also included are children’s, family, and adapted races, which will take place on March 29 at 10:00 a.m. and for which registration is still open.
The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® is organized in collaboration with the Sports Department of the Tenerife Island Council, through its DXTenerife brand, and Turismo de Tenerife, through the “Tenerife despierta emociones” brand, as well as with the support of Fred. Olsen, Hospiten, Libby’s, Clínica del Pie Orotava, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Isola, Fonteide, La Fast, QRV Emergencias, La Molineta, Tirma, Riemann P20, Quanarian, and Mahou 00.
