The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® will mobilize more than 350 people for its security and logistics operations

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, which will take place from June 6 to 8, will involve more than 350 people in the security and logistics operations alone. This was announced today by the island’s Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, during a meeting she held with nearly 40 representatives from the groups that will be involved in the race to ensure its safety, as well as representatives from the seven municipalities through which the race passes.

The councilor, accompanied by Ideco’s CEO, Manolo Gómez, and the race director, Fernando Ordóñez, thanked the local governments, the Civil Guard, the Civil Guard Traffic Division, CECOES 112, QRV, the Civil Guard’s Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group, the National Police, the Mountain Federation, the Pinolere Cultural Association, and Caminar Canarias, among other organizations, as well as the Cabildo’s Department of the Environment.

“Without everyone’s support and involvement, it would be impossible to organize a race of the magnitude of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®,” said the island councilor, who noted “the significant step forward toward the event’s internationalization that we will take in this year’s edition by joining the UTMB® World Series circuit, the most important in the world.”

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, will debut new routes in its next edition, which had to be adapted following the severe wildfire that devastated the island’s mountains last August.

Those attending the meeting were briefed on the details of the course for each of the 10 race categories, the new features of the upcoming edition, and various technical and organizational aspects necessary for coordinating the race.

Registration

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® currently has a total of 2,385 registered participants from 51 countries, 22.5 percent of whom are women. Some race categories are already nearing capacity, such as the 73K category, which has fewer than 7% of spots remaining.

The event offers four race categories through which participants can earn Running Stones and qualify for the sport’s most prestigious mountain race: the Dacia UTMB® Mont-Blanc, held in late August in Chamonix (France). Specifically, these are the Tenerife Bluetrail 110K / 6,250m+ (100M category – 4 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 73K / 3,150m+ (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 47K / 2,600m+ (50K category – 2 Running Stones); and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24K / 1,300m+ (20K category – 1 Running Stone).

In addition to these races, there are other events such as the Tenerife Bluetrail 47K Relay, a 47-kilometer relay race, and the 3.5-kilometer Vertical Night Challenge, as well as races for children and families and those reserved for people with disabilities (Reto and Joëlettes).
