More than 70 elite athletes will participate in the race, which will take place June 6–8 and pass through seven municipalities on the island
The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, the mountain race organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, will generate a direct economic impact on the island of more than 7.1 million euros, according to the organization’s initial estimates. The race, which will take place from June 6 to 8 across seven municipalities in Tenerife, will feature 3,200 athletes from 66 countries, including some of the world’s best runners.
The island’s Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, highlights the importance of the event “not only because of the participation of top-level athletes, but also because of the economic activity it generates, which benefits many businesses on the island both directly and indirectly.”
From June 6 to 8, Tenerife will host one of its most important sporting events of the year, beginning with the Vertical Night Challenge—the night race of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®—starting at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, followed by the remaining ten races, which will begin on Friday, June 7, at 11:00 p.m., with the start of the flagship 110K race from Los Cristianos Beach. On Saturday, June 8, the remaining races will take place.
More than 70 elite runners will compete to be the first to cross the finish line on Martiánez Beach in Puerto de la Cruz. Azahara García de los Salmones, Manuel Anguita, Cristofer Clemente, Jordi Gamito, and Shange Sherpa in the 110K race; Ragna Debats, Borja Fernández, Gemma Arenas, and Ricardo Montagni in the 73K race; Maude Mathys, Andreu Simón, Marcos Ramos-González, Pablo Bautista, and Fran Anguita in the 47K race; Eduard Hernández, Tiago Vieira, and Arezki Habibi in the 24K race; and Álvaro Escuela, Francisco Santana, and Iván Román in the Vertical Night Challenge.
Spaniards, French, British, and Italians—followed by Portuguese, Belgians, and Germans—make up the largest groups of runners, although there are also athletes from countries such as Oman, South Korea, and the United States. Of the 3,200 runners participating in this year’s edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, 22% are women, which is one percentage point more than in the previous edition.
