The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB Opens Registration for the Upcoming Edition

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, the trail race organized by the Cabildo de Tenerife through the public company Ideco, opens registration starting today, Thursday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. (Canary Islands time), to all runners, regardless of whether they have a valid UTMB® Index, via its website tenerife.utmb.world. A total of 3,200 spots will be available across the various race categories.

The race, which will mark its 14th edition in 2025, has been moved up this year and will take place from March 27 to 29 with some new features. One of these changes is that the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k will start at 5:30 p.m. from the Palo Blanco neighborhood in Los Realejos, meaning that part of the race will take place at night in a semi-nighttime format that is sure to delight runners. The route of the Tenerife Bluetrail 73k has also been modified within the Teide National Park.

The island’s Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, notes that “for the second year in a row, we are once again part of the UTMB family—a partnership that has helped us establish ourselves among the world’s top trail running races, while never forgetting how deeply rooted the event is among Canarian athletes, who experience every edition of the race with great passion.”

Another major development for the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB is that in 2025, the prize money will triple to a total of 46,400 euros, making it the trail running event with the largest prize fund in the Canary Islands. In addition, the top three finishers in the overall standings will earn direct entry to the UTMB® World Series Final, the UTMB® Mont-Blanc finals.

Registration fees for the various categories of the upcoming race range from 176 euros for the 110k to 10 euros for the Family Race, although significant discounts are available for the fastest runners and an additional 25% discount for athletes residing in the Canary Islands. This means, for example, that a Canarian who is among the first to register for the flagship race (110k) can do so for less than 100 euros, including processing fees.

The race offers four race categories through which participants can earn Running Stones, which provide opportunities to qualify for the Dacia UTMB Mont-Blanc, the world’s most prestigious trail running race: the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k / 6,250m+ (100M category – 4 Running Stones), which will have 500 spots, as will the Tenerife Bluetrail 73k / 3,150m+ (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k/2,600m+ (50K category – 2 Running Stones) will offer 800 spots; and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k / 1,300m+ (20K category – 1 Running Stone) will have 900 spots available.

In addition to these races, there are other events such as the Tenerife Bluetrail 47K Relay, a 47-kilometer relay race with 100 spots available, and the 3.5-kilometer Vertical Night Challenge, which also has 100 spots available. Registration is also open for the adapted races and the children’s and family events.
