The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® is looking for its “legends” for the 2026 edition

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, the mountain race organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, is seeking its “legends” for the 2026 edition, who must be nominated by track and field clubs from all the islands. This award was created three years ago with the aim of honoring runners who, for various reasons, have contributed through their efforts to the growth of trail running.

Sports Minister Yolanda Moliné explains that “with this award, we want to recognize the careers of runners who, for one reason or another, can serve as an inspiration, especially for new generations of athletes. For this reason, I encourage all clubs to submit their nominations to help us highlight their athletic achievements.”

The criteria that clubs may consider when honoring their legends are varied. Perseverance, being of advanced age while remaining active in trail running competitions, serving as an example of resilience and motivation, a distinguished career, sportsmanship and resilience, being a role model in their community, or having an inspiring personal story—these are some of the reasons that will be considered for this honor, the “Canary Islands Legends Award: Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®.”

Clubs wishing to submit nominations for this award have until December 15 to do so. The race organizers will select the 12 finalists, who will be put to a public vote on the race’s official social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) starting January 12, 2026. The names of the five winners will be announced on January 30 through those same channels.

The runners who stood out in the latest edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, held in March of this year, were Francisco Javier Hernández, Julio Rodríguez, Miguel García, Romén Torres, and Enedina Pérez, who have already made their mark on the race’s history.
