Starting this month, CIAT is offering two new services: specific physical training and fitness classes
The Tenerife Island Council will invest 1.4 million euros in two projects to improve the Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT), which is managed by the public company Ideco. This was announced by the island’s Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, to representatives of the five clubs based at the facility during a meeting that was also attended by Ideco’s CEO, Manolo Gómez.
Yolanda Moliné provided details on each of the projects, including the replacement of the main track’s surface and the artificial turf perimeter—a project with a budget of 1.2 million euros. The planned work also includes the renovation of the long jump pits, the shot put circle, and the throwing cage, as well as the installation of wiring for the timing system.
The Sports Minister took note of the needs and concerns raised by the club representatives, such as agreeing on the best date to begin construction while taking the competition schedule into account, and she heard various proposals for the use of the facility’s sports and non-sports areas and for the purchase of specific equipment.
In addition, Yolanda Moliné announced during the meeting that the strength training equipment in the gym and the indoor area will be replaced soon, an initiative that will require an investment of 193,000 euros, “which comes on top of other projects we have underway, such as improving the facility’s energy efficiency, which we hope to tackle in the coming months as well.”
The clubs currently training at CIAT—and which were present at the meeting—are the Santa Cruz, Milla Chicharrera, Olympus, Trotamundos de Candelaria, and Tenerife track and field clubs.
New Services
Starting this October, CIAT is offering two new services focused on specific physical conditioning and fitness maintenance for adults. Anyone who wishes to participate may sign up, regardless of whether they are a member of the center.
The first program is designed for people who want to plan a race, prepare for the physical tests of a civil service exam, or simply stay active. Through this new service, the center’s instructors will help participants achieve peak performance through specific, group-based training sessions that include daily progress tracking. Participants can choose between three or five sessions per week.
Physical fitness training is a planned, structured, and ongoing activity designed to improve the physical condition of people of any age and fitness level through group exercises led by an instructor. This type of training will help increase your energy and vitality when performing daily tasks and improve your health through physical activity. With this service, you can also choose between training three or five days a week.
