CIAT will offer 100 additional spots due to high demand

The Tenerife Island Council is extending the camp it organizes at the Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT)—a facility managed by the public company Ideco—by two more weeks, making 100 additional spots available from August 16 to 26.

The island’s Sports Minister, Concepción Rivero, notes that “the camp has been so well received that we have decided to extend it from seven to nine weeks, filling a total of 450 spots since the camp began on June 27.”

Rivero also points out that “during their stay, camp participants take part in activities related to track and field and all its disciplines, such as running, jumping, and throwing, but they also get introduced to other sports like pelota base, soccer, field hockey, and ultimate.”

Popular and traditional games such as Canarian ball, bottle caps, sack races, marbles, and tag also take center stage during the camp, which also includes workshops on balloon twisting, recycling, painting, crafts, and environmental awareness. In addition, during the week-long camp, the children have the opportunity to take a field trip to the beach and hike along a trail to learn basic orienteering skills during their walk.

The organization offers the option of having lunch on-site, with two time slots available: from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (with lunch) and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (without lunch). In addition, there is the option of free extended care starting at 7:30 a.m. The price for the summer camp is 90 euros per week (with lunch) and 70 euros (without lunch), although an additional discount is offered if multiple siblings enroll.
