The Island Council Approves Grants for the Organization of Sporting Events

The Governing Council of the Tenerife Island Council has approved the regulations and the call for grant applications to cover the costs associated with organizing competitive sporting events of interest to the island, as well as other events such as conferences, workshops, conferences, seminars, or forums related to this field that take place on the island of Tenerife. Specifically, a budget of 300,000 euros will be allocated to promote competition as well as training and outreach in various sports disciplines.

The current grant program prioritizes official events, with an emphasis on those whose objectives include increasing women’s participation, promoting equal opportunities in physical activity and sports, fostering gender equality in sports, and organizing activities aimed at people with disabilities.

Events consisting of the organization of summer camps, sports camps, or similar activities, as well as federation events of a regular and periodic nature included in the Federation’s annual calendar, are not eligible for this grant. Official competitive events in motorcycle and auto racing, in all their forms, as well as those related to the indigenous sports and games of the Canary Islands, are also ineligible for this grant, as both have their own specific grant programs.

The deadline for submitting applications will be 20 days from the day following the publication of the call for applications in the Province’s Official Gazette.
