The 2025 Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB has been moved up to March

The next edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB will take place from March 27 to 29. This will be one of the main new features of the iconic Tenerife race, which in 2025 will introduce several changes, including a new start time for the 24k race at 5:30 p.m. from the Realejo neighborhood of Palo Blanco, meaning that part of the course will be run at night. The route for the 73k race within Teide National Park will also be modified.

Registration for the race will open on October 8 at 10:00 a.m. local time, with priority access for 48 hours for athletes with a valid UTMB® Index. Starting Thursday , October 10, at 10:00 a.m., any runner—whether or not they have a valid UTMB® Index—can purchase their race number through the website www.tenerife.utmb.world.

The vice president and director of tourism for the Tenerife Island Council, Lope Afonso, emphasizes that “we will continue under the umbrella of the UTMB, a partnership that has enabled us to make a significant leap in quality this year, with an economic impact on the island of 4.3 million euros, media coverage valued at over 20.5 million, and a television audience of nearly 70 million viewers worldwide.”

The island’s Sports Councilor, Yolanda Moliné, explains that the next edition of the race—which will once again finish in Puerto de la Cruz—will retain the same routes —except for the 73k race—and categories as this year, and she adds that “in 2025, we will triple the prize money to a total of 46,400 euros.”

This year, the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB will continue to support the “Tenerife Renace” project, an initiative of the Cabildo aimed at restoring Tenerife’s mountains, which were devastated by last year’s major wildfire. In 2024, 22% of the athletes who participated in the race made a donation toward this cause.

The registration fee for the different race categories ranges from 176 euros for the 110k to 10 euros for the Family Race, although significant discounts are available for the fastest runners and an additional 25% discount for athletes residing in the Canary Islands. This means, for example, that a Canarian who is among the first to register for the main event (110k) can do so for less than 100 euros, including processing fees.

The race, which will mark its 14th edition in 2025, offers four race categories through which participants can earn the coveted Running Stones, which grant entry into the drawing to compete in the iconic HOKA UTMB Montblanc, held in the French town of Chamonix as the grand finale of the UTMB Series circuit. These are the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k / 6,250m+ (100M category – 4 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 73k / 3,150m+ (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k / 2,600m+ (50k category – 2 Running Stones); and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k / 1,300m+ (20k category – 1 Running Stone).

In addition to these events, there is a 47-kilometer relay race for pairs, the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k Relay; the 3.5-kilometer Vertical Night Challenge; children’s and family races; and two categories exclusively for people with disabilities—Reto and Joëlettes—who can also enjoy the experience of participating in this unique sporting event.

The latest edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, held last June and winding through seven municipalities, drew 3,200 athletes from 66 countries—twice as many countries as the previous year.
