The Regional Minister of Sports, Concepción Rivero, and the Island Director of Sports, Laura Castro, visit the sports camp for children ages 5 to 13
The Regional Minister of Education, Youth, Museums, Culture, and Sports, Concepción Rivero, and the island’s Director of Sports, Laura Castro, visited today the summer camp currently being held at the Tenerife Athletics Center, in which a total of 64 boys and girls are participating, divided into two sessions throughout the month of July.
Rivero emphasized the importance of “boys and girls enjoying a few days of healthy and fun outdoor activities while also getting started in a sport as well-rounded as track and field, at facilities like the ones we have here at CIAT, which are magnificent.” Rivero added that all necessary preventive and hygiene measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of participants and instructors during this camp.
The children participating in this camp are between 5 and 13 years old, and many of them have returned after attending the first session. The boys and girls take part in various activities related to track and field and all its disciplines, such as running, jumping, and throwing, but they also get an introduction to local and traditional games and sports. They also participate in different workshops, and every Friday they go on an outing to the beach or the mountains. Groups consist of a maximum of 20 participants.
