The athletes are in the U-8, U-10, and U-12 age groups
The Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT) will host next Saturday, January 20, starting at 9:30 a.m., the “Jugando al atletismo” event of the Cabildo Games, in which around 400 athletes from the U-8, U-10, and U-12 age groups will participate.
The events to be held include the short-distance run, long jump, indiaca or pelota throws, long-distance run, mat jump, hurdles, and low hurdles. This competition is organized jointly with the Tenerife Island Athletics Federation.
The 37th Cabildo Games are ramping up sports activities for children and teenagers across the island. Nine sports will take center stage during the weekend of January 20 and 21—three of which are making their debut—and will bring together more than a thousand young people.
Yolanda Moliné, the Sports Councilor for the Tenerife Island Council, emphasizes that the main goal of this program is “to promote active lifestyles among adults, encouraging them to try out various sports through events and workshops where fun, socializing, and camaraderie will guide their experience.”
Badminton, chess, judo, frontenis, table tennis, rugby, handball, and volleyball—along with track and field—make up this week’s sports schedule for the Tenerife Cabildo Games, which will bring together more than a thousand young people in the various scheduled competitions.
