Children at the ‘Fun Summer’ camp learn to respect and care for nature

The Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering recently organized a new activity with participants of the “Fun Summer” camp at the Tenerife Athletics Center. This time, the initiative took place in the Agua García forest, in the municipality of Tacoronte, with the aim of raising children’s awareness about the importance of caring for nature.

The participants carried out tasks such as controlling invasive exotic species and cleaning up litter to improve the environment, as well as learning about the species that inhabit Tenerife’s forest ecosystems.

This action, which was supported by the Tenerife Island Council, the Nivaria Mountaineering Club, and the Tacoronte City Council, is part of the “Monte de Agua García, a space to preserve” land stewardship project, which also supports the SEO/BirdLife natural space sponsorship program in partnership with Ecoembes.

The Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering, under the auspices of Ideco, has the fundamental objective of promoting the active participation of the population in sustainable development, the fight against climate change, and the protection and management of the environment.

Its efforts focus on guiding and encouraging non-profit organizations, public bodies, and private entities to organize volunteer activities aimed at the conservation, restoration, and dissemination of the cultural and natural heritage of the island of Tenerife.
