The Tenerife Bluetrail Half Marathon sells out and opens the waiting list

The Tenerife Bluetrail 2022 has already sold out its 700 available places for the Half Marathon, a 24-kilometer course between Aguamansa (La Orotava) and Puerto de la Cruz, passing through spectacular landscapes such as the Caldera, the Santa Úrsula mountains, and the beaches of Ancón, Los Patos, and Bollullo. Athletes who did not secure a place can join the waiting list at this link.

This year, 26% of the Half Marathon participants are women, a percentage that confirms the growing interest among female athletes in this event. Regarding age groups, the largest is the 35-39 age bracket, followed by those over 50.

The Tenerife Bluetrail, the highest in Spain, has already reached 1,679 registered runners across all its categories in just two months. The organizers have set a total capacity of 2,900 runners for the seven race categories, which this year again has the support of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB), the world’s most prestigious race in this discipline.

Thus, in addition to the Half Marathon, the Marathon will also have 700 places available, while the Ultra and Trail versions will each have 500 participants. Given the success of the Relay and Vertical Trail categories, the number of places available has been increased this year to 100 pairs and 200 runners, respectively.

The Tenerife Bluetrail, organized by the Tenerife Island Council (Cabildo) through Ideco, will pass through the municipalities of Candelaria, La Matanza, La Victoria, and Santa Úrsula for the first time. Adeje, Vilaflor, La Orotava, Granadilla, and Puerto de la Cruz complete the list of municipalities that will host the 2022 edition.

There will also be changes to the nighttime vertical race, which this year will take place between Barranco Hondo and Las Lagunetas, covering a distance of 5.25 kilometers with an elevation gain of 990 meters.
