Those interested in collaborating in Spain’s highest race can register from today until May 17th on the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com
The Tenerife Bluetrail 2021, the mountain race taking place from June 3rd to 5th, has opened registration for 100 volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can register on the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com starting today, April 23rd, and until May 17th.
The Island Councillor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, emphasizes that “we are proud to have this group of volunteers on our team, who feel a deep connection to the race and who don’t mind dedicating many hours of their time to the Tenerife Bluetrail, not only on race day but also for several weeks beforehand. This, for us, is the true spirit of Bluetrail.”
Among the tasks performed by the volunteers are preparing runner’s bags, distributing race bibs, providing support at the start of the ultra race, distributing race materials and food tickets at the finish line, coordinating with the transport that takes runners to Santa Cruz or La Laguna, and providing refreshments along the different routes, among other duties.
Rivero explains that “the volunteers will receive training tailored to the specific tasks involved, particularly regarding the race’s COVID protocol and the importance of the event’s environmental sustainability. These hundred volunteers will form part of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2021 team, which comprises over half a million people responsible for carrying out various tasks in the days leading up to and during the race.”
The Tenerife Bluetrail 2021, organized by the Tenerife Island Council (Cabildo) through the public company Ideco, the Sports Department, and Tenerife Tourism, has already sold out all available places, with only the athletes who will participate in the Challenge, aimed at people with disabilities, remaining to be filled.
This year, the race will celebrate its tenth anniversary and, for the first time in its history, will host the Spanish Ultra Championship for individuals and regional teams, a competition organized by the Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing (FEDME). Furthermore, the race will also count towards the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB), the world’s most prestigious trail running event.
The 2021 Tenerife Bluetrail is supported by companies such as Fred. Olsen, Hospiten, Physiorelax, Isola Frutos Secos que Acompañan, Cajamar, Libby’s Canarias, La Fast, Fonteide, and Clínica del Pie Orotava.
