The under-10 girls’ team takes first place while the boys’ team takes third place

Athletes from the Ciat Athletics School excelled last weekend in the U10 and U12 finals of the Tenerife Island Council Games, held at the Antonio Domínguez Olympic Stadium in Los Cristianos (Arona) with 600 athletes participating.

The U10 girls’ team took first place in their category, while the boys’ team finished third. Individually, Sergio Dorta finished second in the U10 long jump, and in the U12 category, Rubén Aguiar (boys) and Alba Palmero (girls) both finished second in the 500 meters. Valeria Susej García finished second in the shot put, and Yarey Suárez finished third in the same event, both in the U12 category.

The sporting event, which included the participation of 56 athletes from the Ciat School, once again served as an opportunity for participants to share experiences through sport, embodying all the values it entails: camaraderie, respect, solidarity, discipline, teamwork, empathy, effort, fair play, equality, generosity, enjoyment, and community spirit.

The Tenerife Island Council Games are a key element in the Island Corporation’s efforts to promote physical activity and sport among school-age children. They have become a valuable tool for fostering education, integration, solidarity, discipline, equality, sustainability, and camaraderie, offering a multi-sport alternative in schools that, among other things, introduces the values of competition to young people living in Tenerife.
