CIAT Receives Accreditation from the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation

The outdoor track at the Tenerife Athletics Center, located in Tíncer, has received certification from the RFEA (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation). This is a major milestone, as it means the facility—owned by the Cabildo and managed by the public company Ideco—will now be able to host official events and elite competitions and recognize records at the national and international levels. Furthermore, the reliability of results will be guaranteed through more precise measurements and fully comparable times, in compliance with the technical and safety standards required by the Federation.

For the Regional Minister of Sports, Yolanda Moliné, “this is another step toward excellence for the CIAT, with the goal of also receiving World Athletics accreditation in the future.” In this regard, Moliné notes that “our department will continue working to upgrade the facilities and move toward a future where Tenerife becomes a major hub on the map of elite athletics.”

The Tenerife Athletics Center has earned its federation certification following the latest improvements, with a total investment of 2.5 million euros. These range from the renovated outdoor track, which received 865,927 euros, to the new strength training equipment for both the gym and the indoor area (169,000 euros), as well as an additional throwing cage to complement the existing one, at a cost of 37,800 euros.

In addition, key projects include the installation of a photovoltaic plant and the replacement of the main court’s lighting with LED technology, at a total cost exceeding 1.2 million euros, of which more than 543,000 euros come from a grant funded by the Next Generation funds. This will improve the facility’s energy efficiency and significantly reduce conventional electricity consumption, moving the facility toward a more sustainable model. Finally, plans are in place to replace the seats in the stands in the near future at a cost of approximately 70,000 euros.
