A total of five meetings were scheduled after six months of work
The Tenerife Island Council’s “Personas + Sostenibles” program has come to an end after six months, during which families from San Cristóbal de La Laguna, La Victoria de Acentejo, Guía de Isora, Granadilla de Abona, Santiago del Teide, and Vilaflor de Chasna were able to attend five sessions covering topics of interest related to sustainability, including climate change, consumption, and daily habits related to energy, transportation, water, shopping, and waste.
In addition, as part of the program, the group visited the Tenerife Environmental Complex to see firsthand how the waste generated on the island is managed.
The program’s closing ceremony took place last weekend at the Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT), where activities for the whole family were held, as well as sessions in which participants shared their experiences and reflections on their time in the program.
“People + Sustainability” is a program designed and coordinated by the Department of Sustainable Development and Climate Change Mitigation of the Tenerife Island Council, through the Environmental Education Unit, and implemented through Sinpromi, with close collaboration from the municipal governments of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, La Victoria de Acentejo, Guía de Isora, Granadilla de Abona, Santiago del Teide, and Vilaflor de Chasna.
