The Island Councillor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, highlights that these grants, with a budget of 200,000 euros, will cover part of the expenses of athletes, clubs and federations for official competitions held between April and December of last year
The Tenerife Island Council has approved in its Governing Council subsidies to help athletes travel to official national and international sporting competitions held between April and December 2020. This aid program, aimed at promoting sports, has a budget of €200,000.
The Island Councillor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, points out that “this year, the sports categories and maximum number of athletes allowed to travel have been updated for team sports.” She explains that, in addition, “any extra days athletes spend at their destination, both before and after the competition, will be considered, provided they are properly documented.”
With this grant program, athletes, clubs, and federations will be able to cover part of the travel and living expenses incurred between April 2020 and December 2020 to participate in official competitions held both in Spain and abroad.
The Island Director of Sports, Laura Castro, stated that “the Tenerife Island Council has simplified the justification process, allowing a federation certificate to replace invoices and federation documentation.” She added that “assistants have been included as eligible non-athletes, taking into account the needs of athletes with disabilities.”
Furthermore, in the case of minors, the grant can be requested by a legal representative of the athlete, whether or not they traveled with them. Applications must be submitted within 15 business days of the publication of this call for applications.
