The 2021 Tenerife Bluetrail will take place from June 3 to 5

Wednesday, 20 May 2020

75 percent of runners are keeping their registrations for the next edition of the race, which was canceled this year due to the COVID-19 health crisis

The Tenerife Bluetrail, Spain’s highest-altitude mountain race, organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, will take place from June 3 to 5 and feature seven different race categories.

The island’s Sports Commissioner, Concepción Rivero, explains that “we are already fully focused on organizing the next race because we want it to be the best race in the event’s history to celebrate its tenth anniversary as it deserves.”

Rivero confirms that, despite the race being suspended this year as a result of the coronavirus health crisis, “75% of the runners are keeping their registrations for 2021, which gives an idea of the athletes’ loyalty to a race that is considered one of the most attractive both nationally and internationally.”

However, athletes who still wish to request a refund of their registration fee may do so before June 30 through the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com by logging into their private runner’s account.

The Tenerife Bluetrail will feature seven race categories: the Ultra, at 103 kilometers; the Trail, at 71 kilometers, which also includes a relay option; the Marathon, at 44 kilometers; the Half, at 20 kilometers; the Bluetrail Challenge for people with disabilities, which includes three distances of 8, 3.7, and 1.2 kilometers; and a new 3.1-kilometer nighttime vertical race to be held on June 3.

The next edition of the Tenerife race—one of the most varied events due to the diversity of the landscapes it traverses and its technical demands—remains on the calendar for both the Spanish Mountain Running Cup and the 2021 Skyrunner National Series.
