The Tenerife Island Council is organizing a summer camp for children ages 5 to 13 at the Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT), a facility managed by the public company Ideco. The activities will take place in two sessions, from July 6 to 17 and from July 20 to 31, with groups limited to a maximum of 20 children.

Concepción Rivero, the Cabildo’s Sports Councilor, explains that “we’ve been working for weeks to adapt our usual summer camp to the circumstances we’ve been facing in recent months. We want children to be able to enjoy a few days of healthy and fun outdoor activities while getting started in a sport as well-rounded as track and field.”

Camp participants will have the opportunity to take part in various activities related to track and field and all its disciplines, such as running, jumping, and throwing, and they will also be introduced to indigenous and traditional games and sports.

During the CIAT camp, four field trips to the beach and the mountains will be organized, where the children will have the opportunity to hike along a trail and, at the same time, learn the basics of orienteering during their hike.

The organization offers the option of having lunch on-site, so there will be two time slots: from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (with lunch) and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (without lunch). In addition, there is the option of free childcare starting at 7:30 a.m.

Prices for the summer camp will be 200 euros per two-week period (with meals) and 150 euros (without meals); however, if the stay is for the entire month, the total price will be 370 and 300 euros, respectively. An additional discount is offered if several siblings enroll.

Those interested in the camps can request more information by calling 922 61 53 38, where a CIAT staff member will explain the steps to follow to complete the registration process.
