The Island Council is providing 61,300 euros to support travel expenses for sports teams in Tenerife

The Governing Council of the Tenerife Island Council has approved the allocation of a total of 61,302.50 euros in grants to cover the travel expenses of athletes and sports clubs from the island participating in official national and international competitions.

The island’s Councilor for Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports, Concepción Rivero, explained that a total of 128 applications have been approved for trips taken between June 1 and June 30, 2019. The total amount of these grants for the 2018–2019 season is 340,000 euros.

The recipients of this financial assistance are sports clubs registered in the Canary Islands Registry of Sports Organizations and Canary Islands federations (exclusively for athletes from Tenerife) or federations from other islands with legal personality, as well as athletes from Tenerife who participate in official competitions as individuals.

The rules governing this financial assistance exclude unofficial matches or tournaments, as well as those that, although official, are considered friendly or preparatory matches.
