Participants will take part in Latin aerobics, Canarian ball, track and field, and alternative sports
The Tenerife Athletics Center (CIAT) is hosting three new sessions this week as part of the Physical Activity and Sports Plan for Social Inclusion (PADIS), launched by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco.
The event began today [Tuesday, the 19th] with Latin aerobics and Canarian ball, attended by 80 participants from the CAMP la Cuesta, Funcasor, IES Benito Pérez Armas, IES los Naranjeros, Naranjos de Luz Occupational Center, and CAD Maximiliano Díaz López centers.
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 20th, track and field will be the focus of attention for participants in the event from IES Benito Pérez Armas, Centro Ocupacional Los Naranjos de Luz, Hogar Santos Ángeles, IES LA Victoria, Tundra, Echeyde Ofra, and CEIP Mencey Bencomo.
The final PADIS activity scheduled for this week will focus on alternative sports and Canarian ball, and will be attended by participants from Apanate, Acamán, Hermano Pedro, CEIP Los Menceyes, and the Andrés Llarena Occupational Center.
The Physical Activity and Sports Plan for Social Inclusion (PADIS) provides the necessary tools to move toward the effective inclusion of people with disabilities in sports by organizing cross-cutting activities that normalize physical activity for this group.
PADIS, which began its activities last December, will engage nearly 1,000 people from 47 centers across the island in 77 sports events through May. About twenty instructors oversee the activities, which have a maximum capacity of 100 participants per session and take place at various facilities throughout the island.
The first edition of the program features 11 sports, including Latin aerobics, paddleboarding, yoga, track and field, basketball, hockey, swimming, soccer, indoor soccer, alternative sports, and Canarian ball.
