Anyone interested in participating in Spain’s highest race can register starting today through May 20 on the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com

The Tenerife Bluetrail 2022, the trail race taking place June 2–5, has opened registration for 100 volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can register on the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com starting today, April 21, through May 20.

The island’s Sports Councilor, Concepción Rivero, emphasizes that “we are very proud to have these people on our team; they are indispensable to the race. Our volunteers feel that the Tenerife Bluetrail is their own and dedicate many hours of their free time to ensure that everything goes perfectly. This is what we call the Bluetrail spirit.”

Among the tasks performed by volunteers are preparing the runner’s bags, distributing race numbers, providing logistical support at the various starting lines and at the finish line, coordinating with the transportation that takes runners to the race start or back to the finish, and providing refreshments along the various routes, among other tasks.

Rivero explains that “the volunteers will receive training tailored to the specific requirements of each task and on the importance of ensuring the event is environmentally sustainable. These 100 volunteers will be part of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2022 operations team, which numbers more than 700 people, responsible for carrying out various tasks in the days leading up to the race and during the race itself.”

The 2022 Tenerife Bluetrail, organized by the Island Council through the public company Ideco, already has more than 2,000 registered participants across its seven categories: the Ultra, covering 102 kilometers; the Trail, covering 73 kilometers, which also includes a relay category with legs of 25 and 48 kilometers; the Marathon, with a total distance of 44 kilometers; the Half, covering a distance of 24 kilometers; and the Bluetrail Challenge for people with disabilities, which includes three distances of 7.2, 5, and 1.2 kilometers that coincide with the finish line of all categories, as well as the 5.25-kilometer nighttime vertical race to be held on June 2.

The upcoming edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail is sponsored by companies such as Fred. Olsen, Hospiten, Physiorelax, La Fast, Fonteide, Libby’s, Cajamar, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Clínica del Pie La Orotava, Tirma, and Isola Frutos Secos, which are supporting the event.
