The City Council supports the 12th Santa Cruz Track and Field Meet held at the CIAT

Laura Castro, the island director of sports for the Tenerife Island Council, participated on Saturday [the 25th] in the 12th Santa Cruz de Tenerife Track and Field Meet, a national athletic competition that has been held since 2008 at the Tenerife Island Track and Field Center (CIAT) and which the Island Council continues to support through its Sports Department.

“The City Council is pleased to be able to collaborate with this high-level sporting competition and to have the CIAT facilities host this celebration of sports on our island. A significant effort has been made to adapt the CIAT to the new conditions of use, which allow us to guarantee safety and enable us to host, once again this year, this meet—an international showcase for our athletes and our island.”

Laura Castro joined the tribute that the event’s organizers, the Tenerife Santa Cruz Runners Club, are paying this year to the late athlete Eduardo Rodríguez Medina, a sprinter from Tenerife in the 1990s
