Spots for the 73k race are about to sell out, and the flagship event, the 110k, is 83% full.
The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, the mountain race organized by the Cabildo through the public company Ideco, already has more than 2,100 registered participants for the upcoming edition of the event, which will take place March 27–29. Some of the race categories, such as the 73k, are nearly sold out, while others, such as the 110k, are already 83% full.
The island’s Sports Minister, Yolanda Moliné, highlights the interest generated by the upcoming edition of the popular Tenerife race, which will be held in March for the first time. “75% of the runners registered so far are from outside the island, which gives an idea of the appeal of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB for foreign athletes. Runners from 55 countries have already registered, primarily from France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.”
Regarding female participation, the island’s sports councilor notes that “they currently account for 22% of the total, and it’s also worth noting that 576 Canarians have already signed up for one of the sports with a 25% discount on the price of each one.”
The next edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® will feature several changes, including a new schedule for the 24k race—which will debut a semi-nighttime format—and a modified route for the 73k race within Teide National Park. Another new feature will be the prominent role played by Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz, which will host both the bib pickup and the event’s accompanying expo, called the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB Village.
The event, which will mark its 14th edition in 2025, offers ten race formats and four race categories through which participants can earn Running Stones and qualify for the sport’s most prestigious mountain race: the Hokka UTMB® Mont-Blanc, held in late August in Chamonix (France). Specifically, these are the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k / 6,250m+ (100M category – 4 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 73k / 3,150m+ (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 47k / 2,600m+ (50K category – 2 Running Stones); and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k / 1,300m+ (20K category – 1 Running Stone).
In addition to these races, there are other events such as the Tenerife Bluetrail 47K Relay, a 47-kilometer relay race, and the 3.5-kilometer Vertical Night Challenge. Also included are children’s and family races, as well as adapted races, which will take place on March 29 at 10:00 a.m.
Registration is still open on the event’s website for the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, one of only three races in Spain that are part of the world’s most important trail running circuit.
