The Tenerife race, which will feature a new 67-kilometer category, will open registration next June
The fifteenth edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, which had to be canceled this year due to Storm Therese, will take place from April 8 to 10, 2027. Next year, the popular Tenerife race will feature some major new additions, including a new 67-kilometer race—the route for which is still being finalized—anextension of the 73k race by about 10 kilometers, and a new Vertical race.
Registration for the race is scheduled to open next June, with a 48-hour priority registration period for athletes who were unable to compete this year due to the race’s cancellation and wish to participate in the 2027 edition. After that, runners with a valid UTMB® Index will be able to register, followed by all other athletes.
Sports Commissioner Yolanda Moliné emphasizes that “we’re coming back in 2027 stronger than ever, with an enhanced, well-organized, and responsible event that’s ready to remain an international benchmark for trail running. The addition of a new distance and the modification of some routes reflect a clear commitment to continued growth. We want to offer a more comprehensive, challenging, and appealing experience for runners of all levels.”
The race organizers will once again do everything in their power to ensure compliance with all regulations pertaining to the conservation of protected natural areas—particularly those related to Teide National Park—in order to ensure a sustainable event that is compatible with existing resources and committed to the environment.
Thus, the two race distances that pass through Teide National Park—the 110k and the 73k—are limited to 400 runners, as established by the Master Plan for Use and Management, which has been in effect since late 2025.
In 2027, the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® will offer eleven race formats and five race categories through which runners can earn Running Stones that grant access to the drawing to participate in the iconic HOKA UTMB® Montblanc, held in the French town of Chamonix as the grand finale of the UTMB Series circuit. These include the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k (100M category – 4 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 83k (100K category – 3 Running Stones); the Tenerife Bluetrail 67k (pending certification); the 47k / 2,600m+ race (50k category – 2 Running Stones); and the Tenerife Bluetrail 24k / 1,300m+ (20k category – 1 Running Stone).
